Destination - Bali

Deep in the northern hemisphere winter, there is still warm, if not even hot weather to be enjoyed! Beaches, surfing, turquoise waters, exotic surroundings. Bali is practically a year round destination and our first stop in 2018.

We wake the morning after our arrival to these beautiful views of the Indian Ocean from the southern most tip of Bali in Nusa Dua. (Pronounced New-sa Doo-wah). This is one of the major resort areas of Bali. Filled with luxury hotel brands, but only 25 minutes from the airport and Bali's urban shopping districts.

After a 23 hour flight, relaxing on the beach or enjoying a Balinese massage is a great way to get on island time before heading out to explore everything Bali has to offer from surfing and shopping in Seminyak or money watching, cafe eating and more shopping in Ubud.

The key to a Balinese vacation. Light clothing, and lots of bottled water to stay hydrated. We also stayed at more than one hotel in order to better enjoy each area of Bali. You have many choices. I liked starting in the resort area of Nusa Dua where you can relax for a few days and recover from any jet lag. Once refreshed, venture out in an Uber using the new "UberTrip" which is 5 hours for a fixed price. This will allow you to see Sanur, Seminyak and Kuta and return to Nusa Dua. After your resort stay, you may want to relocate up to Ubud so you can enjoy the Monkey Forrest, see an abundance of rice fields, and spend a day or two exploring all of the Ubud shops, markets, temples and cafes.

Many of our Ata purses are woven nearby in the Karangasem region of Bali. An area affected by the recently erupting volcano, Mount Agung. Despite the volcanic activity, the rest of the rather large island of Bali is functioning and humming along.

We loved our week, and can't wait to go back.
